Dr. Wright Says Sorry & Goodbye

For what could have been one of the most dramatic weeks in Bitcoin world or history, the much-publicized revelation by Craig Wright who proclaimed that he was the man behind the monicker "Satoshi Nakamoto," bitcoin’s mysterious and pseudonymous inventor. Four days later, Craig Wright’s final act under the spotlight sees a muted exit.

Australian entrepreneur Dr. Craig Wright has backed out on his recent promise to ‘move’ bitcoin from an early block or from the genesis block, in order to prove that he is Satoshi Nakamoto. His blog now simply says that he is “sorry” and that he “broke” while preparing to publish the proof of access to the earliest private keys.

Apparently, the entire post on his website is a mere photo taking up the homepage with all previous posts missing. Some suggests that his website — which is not secure — may have been hacked.

The statement is as follows:

His words still lend to his claim that he is Satoshi Nakamoto backing out from showing his promised evidence. The reason he cites as to why he reneged reads:

When the rumors began, my qualifications and character were attacked. When those allegations were proven false, new allegations have already begun. I know now that I am not strong enough for this.

While this may or may not be the last time the world sees Craig Wright in the public spotlight, it is unlikely that the search for Satoshi is going to cease anytime soon.

Developments on this story will be posted soon. The drama has just begun its first season.
